Georgia Breweries

Barrier Island Brewing

After exploring St. Simons more and grabbing lunch, we took a trip to Barrier Island Brewing. Barrier Island Brewing is located 10 miles from Earth Day Nature Trail. The drive from Brunswick to St. Simons Island is 15 miles. This brewery is one of the nicer breweries we have visited. It is not a grab a beer at the counter type of place – it is a restaurant. However, if you want to just go and drink some beer, you can!

We took our dogs to Barrier Island Brewing and sat outside in the large patio area.

At this point we had our dogs with us and we sat outside at Barrier Island’s large patio area. I would like to note here how nice and accommodating the staff was for our dogs. They immediately supplied water for our dogs and were understanding when one of our dogs decided she was going to be barky that day in public. Thanks y’all!

Barrier Island Brewing on St. Simons Island - Trails & Tap

When we visited, the current beer list had 13 beers. They also had guest breweries and products. Juneshine hard kombucha, five different hard ciders, and three different Savannah Bourbon Seltzers were on the menu.

There is really something for everyone here! Jesse and I decided to get one flight each. A flight has four beers, each five ounces. I tried the Spanish Moss Saison, the Ocean Boulevard Blueberry Wheat, the Altamaha Amber Lager, and the Beachview Blonde. Jesse had the Gray’s Reef Golden Ale, the Ocean Boulevard Blueberry Wheat, Beachview Blonde, and the Proctor Lane Juicy Pale Ale. I really liked the Altamaha Amber and Jesse liked the Proctor Lane Pale Ale.

Do yourself a favor and have an Ocean Boulevard Blueberry Wheat beer!

The clear winner for both of us was the Blueberry Wheat beer. We have tried so many beers, especially fruity beers. Blueberry and wheat are a popular combination. But this by far was the absolute best blueberry wheat beer we have ever had. I am still thinking about it to this day! Even if you are just driving through the area, do yourself a favor and have an Ocean Boulevard beer!
