Heavale Brewing Company

We found the perfect Sunday oasis at Heavale Brewing Company.

We visited on a Sunday after our hike at Keown Falls Trail. If you ever visit a small town on a Sunday, you know that there is a good chance most of the town will be closed. This was definitely the case for Calhoun. BUT! We found the perfect Sunday oasis at Heavale Brewing Company.

When we were there, 15 drinks were on tap: 10 beers, 4 seltzers, and 1 cider. In addition, there were two frozen seltzer drinks. Jesse and I both got flights (4 mini beers). Between the two of us, we tried:

  • Raspberry Beret fruit sour
  • Cathedral kolsch
  • Granny Smith’s Cider
  • Champagne Super Nova white grape hard seltzer
  • Oothcalager American lager
  • Bermuda Triangle tropical stout
  • Oostanaula Brown Ale
  • Apple Cinnamon Toast seltzer

This brewery takes first place for hospitality!

My favorite beer was the Cathedral kolsh. I don’t normally get seltzers, but I branched out and with the Champagne Super Nova. It was actually really good! It had a full-bodied flavor without tasting like TV static (if you drink White Claw, you know what I mean!). Jesse liked the Apple Cinnamon Toast and the Bermuda Triangle tropical stout. If you visit and it’s on tap, the Apple Cinnamon Toast is a must! It was so good.

Heavale not only has a great selection of beers and other drinks, but it had a cozy atmosphere located in a historic building. While we were at Heavale, we also were able to talk to the owner, Bobby Cheek. Bobby spoke to us about the ins and outs of running a brewery, the work it takes to make different beers, and just life in general. Bobby was kind, and it was clear he was passionate not only about his customers, but about providing them with a wonderful beer experience. This brewery takes first place for hospitality!

If you are in the Calhoun area, stop by Heavale Brewing Company. You will not regret it! Friendly staff, great beers, and a cozy atmosphere is the total brewery package – and Heavale’s got it!
