Cascade Falls at F.D. Roosevelt State Park in Georgia Cascade Falls at F.D. Roosevelt State Park - This second weekend in November was a great time to see fall color. Up in North Georgia, many places are reaching their peak at this time. But the lower elevations peak at later times in November. This area had not yet reached peak, there was still some green, but plenty of gold and oranges were along the hike. Continue Reading
Georgia's High Falls State Park High Falls State Park - In mid-July, Jesse and I took a trip to High Falls State Park. Well, it was more than a trip - it was a camping weekend full of hiking, campfires, fishing, and of course, good beer. Jesse and I last went camping at High Falls State Park in September of 2022, so it had been a while since our last visit. Continue Reading
Creek along the trail at Keown Falls Recreation Area - Trails and Tap Keown Falls Trail - It looked like this waterfall hike had a lot to offer - and I am so happy we went! In the winter of 2025, Jesse and I traveled to the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest near LaFayette, GA. In this National Forest is Keown Falls Recreation Area. This is a remote area, but keep driving, and you will find a forest service road marked as "Keown Falls Trailhead." I had actually seen a video about this trail on Instagram. I knew that this waterfall hike wasn't going to lead to a giant cascading waterfall like you see at Amicalola or Anna Ruby… Continue Reading

A few factors make this trail popular: there is a waterfall, the trail is mostly easy, and it is only six miles away from Helen, GA.
