Georgia Breweries

Sweetwater Brewing Company

We stopped by SweetWater Brewing Company in Atlanta!

SweetWater Brewing Company is one of Georgia’s most well-known microbreweries. This brewery’s taproom in Atlanta offers plenty of drinks, from beers to seltzers to cocktails. This brewery’s overall vibe is fishing and the outdoors, which we love!

SweetWater is just two and a half miles from Morningside Nature Preserve – About a ten-minute drive through Atlanta traffic. This brewery’s taproom offers plenty of food options, including munchies, salads, and sandwiches. We got the chips, salsa, and queso as an after-hike snack. This location allows dogs outside but not in the taproom. There is plenty of outdoor seating, lots of bar counter space, a few hammocks, and cornhole.

Along with the Atlanta brewery, Sweetwater has opened another in Fort Collins, Colorado. Sweetwater also has taproom restaurants located in Hartsfield-Jackson International airport as well as in Denver International airport.

Sweetwater Brewery Locations Have a Very Outdoorsy Vibe!

The brewing company is very involved with organizations supporting river habitats including the Chattahoochee Riverkeeper and Waterkeeper Alliance. The company also produces a large annual multi-band concert in Atlanta called the Sweetwater 420 Fest.

SweetWater is an IPA lover’s paradise. 11 of their current taproom beers were IPAs. We are not big IPA people at all, but I did try one. Blackberry Waterfalls is a hazy wheat IPA with blackberries. I liked it, but I could only drink one because I’m just not a big IPA girl. The other beer I drank was Blue, a blueberry wheat ale with an ABV of 4.5%. Jesse tried the Lager, which is an American Lager with an ABV of 4.5%. He also tried the River Trance, which was a light tropical beer with an ABV of 4.5%. He also sampled the Willie B Legacy lager, but it had a very strong banana flavor that he didn’t like. Jesse’s favorite beer was the River Trance and mine was the Blue.

Note that there are 24 brews on tap at this Atlanta location, many of which are seasonal and only available at the location. They also have quite a few seltzers available, including the Oasis hard seltzer which I’ve tried and recommend.

If you live in Atlanta, consider yourself lucky to be so close to so many awesome breweries! We are looking forward to returning to SweetWater Brewing Company. Our next destination was Monday Night Brewing.

Happy Trails,
Katie and Jesse
