After the challenging hike at North Chickamauga Creek Gorge State Park, we were thankful that we weren’t far from Chattanooga. Chattanooga has several breweries, and we have visited a few including Monkey Town Brewing and Five Wits Brewing Company. On this trip, we decided to try Oddstory Brewing Company. I had heard of this brewery before and knew it was known for its interesting beer flavors. My expectations were definitely met!
Oddstory is only 25 minutes from North Chickamauga Creek Gorge State Park. It is located in Chattanooga’s Southside Historic District.
Oddstory is a large brewery with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. When you walk in, there is a large bar counter where beer, liquor drinks, wine, and nonalcoholic beverages are available. A plus side to all the breweries we’ve gone to in Tennessee is that they all serve food. At Oddstory, you can order items from Anomaly, a food counter where you can get snacks, salads, and sandwiches. I got an order of fries, which really hit the spot after our hike.
I can’t wait to visit this brewery again. They have so many interesting flavors, like a cherry limeade Gose and Mexican hot chocolate stout.
In the outdoor seating area of Oddstory, there are fire pits, swings, and tables. This brewery is dog friendly and family friendly. When we visited on a Sunday evening, it was packed with families. This brewery’s layout and overall family friendly atmosphere reminded me of Atlanta’s Sweetwater Brewing Company. However, the big difference was their dog and child rules! Jesse and I do not have kids, and in the future, we will be bringing our kids to breweries. Nothing wrong with having your family with you at a brewery! However, these child and dog rules were awesome. For example, children must be kept within arm’s reach of their parents. Dogs must always be on a leash. There is also a designated family area for kids to have more free space to play without disrupting other guest’s experiences. We love to see it!
It was later in the day when we went to Oddstory, so we did not try as many beers as we normally do. While we were there, we ordered the Eightfold Belgian-style ale, the Golden Blackbird Belgian blonde, and of course, the Berry Crumbles cobbler sour. Our favorite hands-down was the Berry Crumbles beer. We are suckers for a good sour, but we especially love to find a pie or cobbler sour. The Eightfold was interesting because it was pear and sage flavored, which is something I’ve never experienced in a beer. The Golden Blackbird was an easy drinking light beer. All three beers were great, but I am still thinking about the Berry Crumbles sour!
I can’t wait to visit this brewery again. They have so many interesting flavors, like a cherry limeade Gose and Mexican hot chocolate stout. They also have specialty Lukr pours with Czech style beers, which I have never seen before. We would 100% recommend Oddstory Brewing because there is truly something for everyone!
